Wire harnesses used in industrial processing equipment — automation lines, control systems, process machinery — run in environments with vibration, heat, chemical exposure or continuous duty cycles that a general-purpose harness isn’t built for. A failure in the field means downtime on a production line, not just a warranty claim. This guide does not rank suppliers. It sets out the questions to ask and gives the same facts for each company so you can compare them yourself.
What should I check before shortlisting an industrial processing wire harness manufacturer?
Use these criteria for every company in this guide:
- Quality system: which certifications the company publishes, and at which sites.
- Where the harness is built: the company’s own stated locations and facility scale. Some suppliers list headquarters in one country and production in several others.
- Scale and programme fit: employee count, facility count and whether the company publishes figures that suit your order volume.
- Product scope: whether the company publishes industrial, process-automation or control-system harness work specifically, as opposed to only automotive or consumer work.
- Customization capability: whether the company says it builds to customer specification versus supplying standard, off-the-shelf assemblies.
Figures below come from each company’s own website unless marked otherwise. Anything a company did not publish is left out, not estimated.
Which industrial processing wire harness manufacturers and suppliers serve these buyers?
The seven companies are listed in alphabetical order. Order does not indicate quality or preference.
Aptiv Interconnect (formerly Winchester Interconnect)
- Founded: not stated under the current Aptiv Interconnect brand. Winchester Interconnect was acquired by Aptiv in 2018 and the Winchester brand name has since been retired; Aptiv’s own product page now labels this group “Aptiv Interconnect (Formerly Winchester Interconnect).” Winchester-era facts the old listicle used (e.g. a 1941 founding year) are not stated anywhere on the current site and are not used here.
- Locations: Dayville, Connecticut; Garden Grove, California; Haverhill, Massachusetts; Houston, Texas; plus additional sites in Mexico and Asia not itemized on the page reviewed.
- Certifications (company-stated): AS9100:2016, AS9100D and ISO 9001:2015, ISO 14001:2015, ISO 45001:2018, ISO 13485:2016, OHSAS 18001:2007, Nadcap (including AC7121), UL-E153549 and UL-E212299. No validity dates or per-site mapping are shown.
- Focus: interconnect and cable assembly products serving medical, industrial, telecom, automotive, commercial-vehicle, energy, enterprise and robotics markets, among others listed in its navigation.
- Trade-offs:
- Strength: a long certification list confirmed on the current site, with named facilities across four US states plus unitemized Mexico/Asia sites.
- Limit: the company’s own current site does not state a founding year, and does not use the named technologies (PhaseTite, TruTest) the old listicle attributed to it — those appear to belong to the retired Winchester-branded materials, not the current site. Confirm which specific facility would build your assembly and which certifications that facility currently holds, since the page lists certifications at a group level without a site key.
Cloom Tech (Hebei Cloom Electronic Technology Co., Ltd.)
Cloom Tech is one of the seven companies in this guide. Its facts below use the company’s own published figures, cross-checked against its live site where possible.
- Founded: 2017.
- Locations: Shijiazhuang, Hebei, China (headquarters and plant, stated 5,000 m² facility); Cavite, Philippines (plant, near Manila); Medley, Florida, USA (office).
- Certifications (company-stated): ISO 9001; IATF 16949 (stated valid to August 2029); ISO 13485 (medical wire-harness production); IPC/WHMA-A-620E CIS (operator and inspector qualification).
- Focus: custom wire harnesses and cable assemblies built to customer specification for industrial and process-automation equipment (1,000+ cumulative clients stated since 2017). Does not supply standard or pre-built harnesses, does not sell connectors as a standalone product, and does not offer harness design services — it manufactures to a customer’s own specification or professional recommendation.
- Trade-offs:
- Strength: a stated IATF 16949 certificate (to 2029) and a defined 5,000 m² facility, with three named locations across two manufacturing countries and a US office.
- Limit: no US-based production — both plants are in China and the Philippines — so confirm lead time and logistics for your volume. Custom-build only: it does not sell standalone connectors, pre-built/standard harnesses, or harness design services, so you’ll need your own specification or drawing.
Cypress Industries
- Founded: not published on the company’s own site as of this check (the company states it “was founded in Austin, Texas” with no year given; its current corporate address is 2750 Burbank St, Dallas, TX 75235).
- Locations: corporate address in Dallas, Texas; manufacturing facilities stated in the USA, Mexico, India and China.
- Certifications (company-stated): ISO 9001:2015 (stated at its Mexico manufacturing facility); IPC membership; UL-recognized component certifications for wiring harnesses (file numbers ZPFW2, ZPFW8, ZKLU8, including a Canada-certified processed-wire listing); IPC-A-610 and IPC/WHMA-A-620 referenced on its certifications page.
- Focus: a vertically integrated contract manufacturer covering PCB assembly, sheet metal fabrication, box-build/electromechanical assembly, custom wire harnesses and cable assemblies, plastic injection molding and custom control panels. States a customer base including OEMs, contract manufacturers, telecom companies, industrial machinery companies, point-of-sale companies and gaming equipment companies, plus medical device makers.
- Trade-offs:
- Strength: vertically integrated across six manufacturing disciplines in four countries, with UL-recognized wiring-harness component listings and ISO 9001:2015.
- Limit: founding year isn’t published on the company’s own site, so you can’t independently verify how long it has built wire harnesses specifically; ask directly for harness-specific production history and which of its four countries would build your order.
Kunshan Rcd Electronic Co., Ltd.
- Founded: states it was “established in October 2007.” Note: the same site’s homepage tagline separately claims “18 years of experience” in wiring-harness manufacturing, and its About page also states “14 Year Experience,” which is inconsistent with the 2007 founding date and with each other.
- Locations: headquartered in Kunshan City, Jiangsu Province, China, with stated branches in Fuyang City (Anhui Province), Changshu City (Jiangsu Province) and Vinh Phuc Province, Vietnam (stated 40,000 m² total factory area, approximately 900 employees).
- Certifications (company-stated): UL; IATF 16949; ISO 9001; ISO 14001; ISO 13485.
- Focus: manufactures antennas (WIFI/IoT, RF) and wire harnesses/cable assemblies, including energy-storage harnesses, SAS/SATA high-speed harnesses, new-energy-vehicle harnesses, servo harnesses and equipment harnesses. States its products are used in healthcare, energy, finance, electricity, servo applications, digital home appliances/smart homes, industrial control equipment, automotive and communication sectors.
- Trade-offs:
- Strength: a broad certification set (UL, IATF 16949, ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 13485) across a stated 40,000 m² footprint spanning four sites in China and Vietnam.
- Limit: the company’s own site gives inconsistent tenure claims (established 2007 vs. “18 years” vs. “14 Year Experience” on the same domain), so confirm its actual operating history directly rather than relying on any one of those figures.
Motherson Group
- Founded: 1975, in Delhi, India, as a family trading company; began making wiring harnesses shortly after, and established Motherson Sumi Systems Ltd. in 1986 as a joint venture with Sumitomo Wiring Systems.
- Locations: headquartered in India; states more than 475 facilities in 47 countries as of this check.
- Certifications (company-stated): no group-wide certification list is published on motherson.com. The site hosts third-party-issued IATF 16949 certificates for individual plants — Motherson DRSC Deutschland GmbH’s Tschirn site (Certificate 0522255, TÜV SÜD, issued 2024-06-10, valid to 2027-06-09) and Judenbach site (Certificate 0522588, TÜV SÜD, issued 2024-06-11, valid to 2027-06-10) — both scoped to “design and production of precision functional plastic components,” not specifically to wire-harness production.
- Focus: its Wiring Harness division is described as a full-service system supplier with complete in-house design, development and manufacturing capability, one of the group’s most vertically integrated divisions, supplying automotive and non-automotive sectors.
- Trade-offs:
- Strength: one of the more vertically integrated wiring-harness operations in this guide, with in-house design, development and manufacturing and a 475+ facility, 47-country footprint.
- Limit: a very large, multi-division conglomerate, so confirm which specific facility and division would build your harness; the IATF 16949 certificates published on its own site are scoped to named European plastics-component plants, not to wire-harness production specifically.
Sumitomo Wiring Systems
- Founded: December 22, 1917.
- Locations: head office at 5-28 Hamada-cho, Yokkaichi, Mie, Japan; states it operates in more than 30 countries.
- Certifications (company-stated): not published on the corporate pages reviewed as of this check.
- Focus: states its business as the manufacture and sale of wiring harnesses, harness components and other electric wires, with automotive wiring harnesses as its stated core business; global employee count stated at 256,871 as of the end of March 2026.
- Trade-offs:
- Strength: over a century of focus on wiring harnesses as its stated core business, with a very large global workforce (256,871) across 30+ countries.
- Limit: its corporate site does not publish a certifications list, so ask for the current quality certificate covering the specific plant that would build your harness.
Yazaki Corporation
- Founded: October 8, 1941.
- Locations: head office in Minato-ku, Tokyo, Japan, plus a named “Y-CITY” site in Susono City, Shizuoka, Japan; states 148 group corporations (45 domestic, 103 overseas) across 46 countries and regions.
- Certifications (company-stated): not published on the global corporate pages reviewed as of this check.
- Focus: states wire harnesses as a core automotive product line, alongside connectors, terminals, automobile wires/cables and electronic products; the group also makes living-environment products (air conditioners, gas appliances, solar thermal appliances) and runs a separate nursing/agriculture/recycling business. Total group employees stated at 218,566.
- Trade-offs:
- Strength: very large global scale (218,566 employees, 148 group companies in 46 countries/regions), with wire harnesses named as a core product line since 1941.
- Limit: its corporate site does not publish a certifications list, and its product range extends well beyond wire harnesses into unrelated consumer and agricultural businesses, so confirm which division and plant would actually handle an industrial-processing order, and ask that plant for its current certificate.
How do I choose between these suppliers?
- Match certifications to your application. Ask for the current certificate for the specific site that would build your harness, not a group-wide claim.
- Confirm the build location. Headquarters, named branches and actual production sites are often different; ask for the plant address in writing.
- Check customization fit. Some suppliers in this guide build strictly to your own specification; others also offer broader contract-manufacturing services. Confirm which model matches what you need.
- Ask about facility scale relative to your order. A 40,000 m² or 475-facility operation and a smaller specialist plant serve different order sizes and attention levels.
- Get tenure and history in writing if it matters to your decision — this guide found at least one company whose own site states inconsistent figures for how long it has operated; don’t rely on a single marketing claim.
