Solar and photovoltaic (PV) systems depend on wire and cable that can survive years of sunlight, heat cycling, and outdoor exposure without failing. Some suppliers sell raw PV wire and cable by the reel; others build finished, terminated cable assemblies and harnesses ready to install. This guide does not rank suppliers. It sets out what to check before you shortlist one, and gives the same facts for each company so you can compare them yourself.

What should I check before shortlisting a solar cable or PV wire supplier?

Use these criteria for every company in this guide:

  • Published electrical and environmental specifications: does the company publish datasheets stating voltage ratings, temperature range, conductor material and insulation type for its solar/PV products?
  • Certification claims: which standards does the company state compliance with for its solar-specific products (not just its product line in general), and are those claims specific and current?
  • Product scope: raw PV wire and cable, connectors and junction boxes, pre-assembled harnesses, or some combination — and does that match what your project actually needs?
  • Where it’s actually built: the company’s own stated manufacturing location, which is sometimes different from its registered or marketing address.
  • Bulk wire vs. finished assembly: whether the company supplies cable and wire by the reel, or builds terminated, ready-to-install cable assemblies and harnesses to a drawing.

Figures below come from each company’s own website unless marked otherwise. Anything a company did not publish is left out, not estimated.

Which solar cable and PV wire manufacturers serve buyers today?

The companies below are listed in alphabetical order. Order does not indicate quality or preference.

Cloom Tech (Hebei Cloom Electronic Technology Co., Ltd)

Cloom Tech is one of the companies in this guide. Its facts below use the company’s confirmed reference data plus its own published description of its solar-related work.

  • Founded: 2017.
  • Locations: Shijiazhuang, Hebei, China (headquarters and plant); Cavite, Philippines (plant, near Manila); Medley, Florida, USA (office).
  • Scale (company-stated): 5,000 m² factory space; 1,000+ cumulative clients since 2017.
  • Certifications (company-stated): ISO 9001; IATF 16949 (valid to August 2029); ISO 13485 (medical wire-harness production); IPC/WHMA-A-620E CIS (operator and inspector qualification).
  • Solar-related focus: custom, pre-terminated solar wire harnesses and cable assemblies for inverter connections, combiner boxes, junction boxes, tracking systems and balance-of-system wiring — built to customer-provided drawings and specifications, not supplied as raw or standard cable. Each harness is tested for electrical continuity and inspected under ISO 9001 and IPC/WHMA-A-620 standards.
  • Trade-offs:
    • Strength: a valid IATF 16949 certificate and electrical-testing/traceability on every finished harness.
    • Limit: Cloom Tech does not supply bulk or raw photovoltaic wire — if your project needs reels of PV cable rather than finished, terminated assemblies, it isn’t a fit. It also builds in China and the Philippines with a US office, so confirm production location, lead time and cost for your volume.

Danyang Winpower Wire & Cable MFG Co., Ltd

  • Location: Lingkou Industrial Park, Lingkou Town, Zhenjiang, Jiangsu, China.
  • Scale (company-stated): 17,000 m² site area, 40,000 m² of production plants, 25 production lines.
  • Certifications (company-stated): the company’s own About Us page states it “strictly implements the Enterprise System certification requirements such as ISO9001, IATF16949…and obtains international certifications such as UL, TUV, VDE, CE” (quoted as published, including the site’s own phrasing); its certifications page separately lists CE (listed three times), IATF16949, UL62-01, UL444, UL758, and a “Certificate of high-tech enterprise.” The specific scope of each (which product lines, which standard version) is not broken out on the page.
  • Solar-related focus: a dedicated solar cable product line — TUV PV1-F and UL4703-rated solar cable, solar cable harness, parallel PV harness, thin-film PV harness, solar cable extension, and solar connectors (2-in-1 through 6-in-1 branch connectors) — alongside separate energy storage, EV charging and automotive cable lines. Its own About Us narrative text is written primarily around its surgical/N95 mask nose-wire business, which is a different, larger part of the company; the solar product catalog is real but is not the focus of that page’s own description of the company.
  • Founded: not stated as a founding year on the pages checked; the site’s copyright notice reads “2010–2026,” which may reflect when the site or a related registration began rather than a stated founding date. Not used as a founding year.
  • Trade-offs:
    • Strength: a dedicated, TUV/UL-rated solar cable and connector product line at meaningful production scale (40,000 m² of plant).
    • Limit: the company’s own site frames itself around a different core product (mask nose-wire) rather than solar cable, so ask directly for solar-cable-specific production volume and lead times rather than assuming solar is a primary focus.

Leader Solar (Leader Group Co., Ltd)

  • Founded: 1998, as Guangdong Lvde Cable Factory; started its photovoltaic cable project in 2000 and its photovoltaic connector/junction-box project in 2001.
  • Scale (company-stated): more than 220,000 m² of group facilities; production bases in Jiangsu (35,000 m², operational since 2007) and Zhejiang (25,000 m², operational since 2008); more than 800 employees, including 150+ technicians.
  • Certifications (company-stated): the company’s own Total Quality Management page states it “follows international quality systems such as ISO9000 and ISO14001,” described as a system it follows rather than a specific certificate number with a validity date. Individual product lines (TUV Solar Cable, UL Solar PV Cable, PSE Solar Cable) state compliance with TUV, UL and PSE respectively.
  • Solar-related focus: solar connectors, solar branch connectors, solar cable (TUV/UL/PSE-rated, including aluminum solar cable and battery connection cable), solar cable wiring harness, and solar junction boxes.
  • Trade-offs:
    • Strength: a long, PV-specific history (photovoltaic cable since 2000) and large-scale manufacturing footprint across two production bases.
    • Limit: the company states it “follows” ISO9000/ISO14001 systems rather than publishing a specific certificate number or validity date, so ask for the current certificate if that documentation matters for your project.

Performance Wire and Cable

  • Founded: 2002, by Steve Benjamin.
  • Location: Camden, New York, USA (9482 State Route 13, Camden, NY 13316).
  • Scale (company-stated): 138,700,000 feet of wire manufactured per year; 33,207 orders shipped (undated running totals as published).
  • Certifications/distinctions (company-stated): Made in America Certified; Better Business Bureau accredited; ETL; member of NACE (The Corrosion Society). The company states its Quality Assurance Department ensures products conform to standards set by UL, NEMA and IEEE — stated as conformance to those standards, not as the company itself holding an independent ISO-type certificate.
  • Solar-related focus: RHW and USE-2 photovoltaic wire, described as sunlight-resistant, approved for direct burial, and suited to high-temperature applications; Photovoltaic is listed as one of its four served industries (alongside Corrosion Protection, Utilities, and Oil & Gas).
  • Trade-offs:
    • Strength: Made-in-USA manufacturing with a single dedicated facility and a long-standing niche in direct-burial and corrosion-resistant wire, a background relevant to ground-mounted solar runs.
    • Limit: no solar-specific international certification (e.g. IEC/TUV) is published on its own site — its photovoltaic wire claims rest on UL/NEMA/IEEE conformance rather than a dedicated solar standard like UL 4703, so confirm the exact listing you need before ordering.

Service Wire Company

  • Founded: 1968; family-owned across multiple generations.
  • Locations: corporate office at 310 Davis Road, Culloden, West Virginia; additional offices in Houston, Texas and Phoenix, Arizona.
  • Certifications (company-stated): ISO 9001:2015-certified quality management system; BABA (Build America, Buy America) certified; NEMA “Make It American” Certification (per the company’s own news item).
  • Solar-related focus: ServiceSolar, a dedicated PV wire product line — UL 4703-approved conductors, XLPE insulation, available in 600V, 1kV and 2kV ratings from #16 AWG through 750 Kcmil, marketed for both grounded and ungrounded solar arrays.
  • Trade-offs:
    • Strength: a named, UL 4703-rated solar product line (ServiceSolar) backed by an ISO 9001:2015-certified quality system and multiple North American service locations.
    • Limit: manufacturing and offices are concentrated in the eastern and southwestern US, so confirm lead time and freight if your project is elsewhere in North America.

Zhejiang Pntech Technology Co., Ltd

  • Founded: 2011.
  • Location: No. 108, West Section of Yinxian Avenue, Haishu District, Ningbo, Zhejiang, China.
  • Certifications (company-stated): company-wide badges for TUV, IEC, RoHS, CE, ISO 9001 and CQC; individual products carry specific standards, e.g. IEC 62852:2014/TUV for its PV connectors, TÜV 2PfG 2521 + EN 50618 for its H1Z2Z2-K photovoltaic cable, TÜV 2PfG 1169 + IEC 62930 + EN 50618 for its PV1-F photovoltaic cable, and VDE H07RN-F for its microinverter wiring harness.
  • Solar-related focus: photovoltaic DC cable, DC cable for energy storage systems, PV connectors rated at 1000V/1500V/2000V, PV extension cable, DC isolators/circuit breakers, PV combiner boxes, microinverter wiring harness, and rapid-shutdown devices — described on its own site as a “one-stop” solar connection product range.
  • Scale: the homepage displays employee count, branch count, facility area, production-line count, export volume and partner count as animated counters with no static value in the page source as fetched; not used here, since no actual number could be confirmed.
  • Trade-offs:
    • Strength: a broad, PV-specific product range (cable, connectors, combiner boxes, microinverter harness, rapid shutdown) all under one supplier, with specific TÜV/IEC/VDE certificates cited per product.
    • Limit: company-wide scale figures (headcount, facility size, production lines) are not available as static published numbers, so ask directly for current production capacity if volume is a concern.

How do I choose between these suppliers?

  1. Decide bulk wire vs. finished assembly first. If you need reels of certified PV wire, Cloom Tech is not a fit; if you need pre-terminated, tested harnesses built to your drawing, it’s the only company here that builds those.
  2. Match the certification to the product, not just the company. A company-wide ISO 9001 badge doesn’t tell you whether the specific solar cable or connector you need carries a current TUV, UL or IEC listing — ask for the certificate covering that exact part number.
  3. Confirm where it’s actually made. Several of these companies have multiple sites or multiple business lines; ask which plant would build your order.
  4. Check fit with your installation type. Direct burial, rooftop, ground-mount and floating solar each put different demands on cable; ask whether the company’s published ratings cover your installation.
  5. Test lead time with a real order. Send the same specification to two or three suppliers and compare turnaround and documentation before committing to volume.
